But reality star Kim Kardashian went to the lighter side in a Marilyn Monroe-esk platinum blonde wig as she modelled for the Kardashian's new line of bikinis for Beach Bunny Swimwear.
In the commercial Kim, 30, sported the wig with a hot white bikini paired with space age white knee high platform boots to create a modern day Barbarella style scene.
The picture was posted to Kim's own website and is part of the new advertising campaign for the swimwear line and Kim admitted her inspiration had come from the classic sci-fi flick.
'My Divinity Collection was inspired by Jane Fonda in the movie Barbarella, where she plays a super-sci-fi-sexy Queen of the Galaxy,' she wrote on her website alongside the picture.
Both Khloe and Kourtney, Kim's sisters, also took part in the shoot which saw all the girls don blonde wigs for the occasion.
Kim was spotted today enjoying some down time with her friend and fellow reality star Simon Huck of E!'s The Spin Crowd.
The pair browsed several high-end clothing boutiques in the Meatpacking district of New York. Last night Kim and her sisters launched their own pre-paid credit card called the Kardashian Kard aimed at making teens more financially responsible.
The sisters have also been busy after the launch of the New York arm of their clothing store Dash last week, with the upcoming release of their first joint autobiography Kardashian Konfidential.
Kim candidly opens up in the new book about being single and what she wants in a man.
'Is it weird that I'm now the single one?' she questions of herself. 'It is definitely a change for me.'
'If you were to ask me in high school where I would be at 30, I would have said I'd be a housewife with four kids,' she admitted.
But after several failed relationships she is becoming more aware of what she wants and needs from a man.
'Whatever relationship I'll be in next I realise I can't be this work machine all the time. It's not realistic. I want a normal relationship.'
